Story: It always amazes me how the landscape can change so quickly. One moment it is dark and gloomy and then the clouds move and sunlight streams through. In this painting of the Georgian Bay area where I spent many summers sketching and painting, I have simplified the landscape, emphasized the backlit composition and pushed the intensity of the colours of the land as well as focusing on the intensity of the light streaming from above. This large format in a diptych best captures the grandeur and scope of the scene.
